Toast of the Town
Each year Family Support Council sponsors "Toast of the Town," an annual fundraising dinner event in which a community member is recognized and "toasted" by the community. The Toast of the Town honorees are longstanding residents who have contributed to the wellbeing of the community. The 2019 honoree is Bob Chandler. We are looking forward to an evening in which friends and constituents of the honoree gather for an evening of fellowship and recognition. Funds raised are used to support the programs of the Family Support Council.

Heroes Against Child Abuse
“Heroes Against Child Abuse” is an annual fundraising and community awareness event sponsored by the Family Support Council.  “Heroes“ activities are sponsored in partnership with local business and schools in Whitfield and Murray Counties.  The activities provide opportunities for children and adults alike to be involved in awareness and fundraising events.  Individual community members and business sponsors and are recognized as heroes on the backs of the “Heroes Against Child Abuse” t-shirts. Activities continue for several months prior to the month of April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  During April individual participants and schools are recognized and honored at the Pinwheels for Prevention ceremonies in Whitfield and Murray Counties. All of these activities engage the community in the prevention of child abuse and neglect and raise awareness of needs and conditions in our community.  Family Support Council believes that all children have the inherent right to be valued and to live in a safe and healthy environment.

The Oakwood Café Fundraiser
This year marked the tenth year that Representative Kasey Carpenter, owner of the Oakwood Café, has allowed the Family Support Council to hold a fundraiser at his restaurant. Family Support Council’s board of directors and staff members work together to sell tickets and prepare and serve a meal at the Oakwood Café, with all proceeds benefitting FSC. The 2019 Oakwood Fundraiser was held on April 28th from 10:30-2:00.
